With its substantial 41.5mm stainless steel case, black dial and steel unidirectional elapsed-time bezel, the A17040 has a strong presence on the wrist while remaining very wearable. Rated to an impressive 1000 metres of water resistance, it was designed as a serious tool watch rather than simply a sports-styled timepiece.

The watch is powered by Breitling's automatic Calibre 17 and features a date display. The sapphire crystal provides excellent durability and complements the rugged construction of the watch.

The dial gives this SuperOcean a particularly attractive appearance, while the combination of the large case, dive bezel and highly legible dial gives it the unmistakable character of a late-1990s Breitling tool watch.

 

CONDITION

Very good pre-owned vintage condition. The case and bracelet show only light hairline scratches consistent with careful use. There are also some signs of age/patina on the luminous pearl of the bezel, adding to its original character.
