A superb neo-vintage IWC Pilot’s Doppelchronograph Ref. 3713, dating from around 2000 and offered in very good, honest condition.

The reference 3713 belongs to one of the most interesting generations of IWC’s Pilot’s Chronograph. Its classic Flieger-inspired design combines the unmistakable IWC pilot’s watch character with a highly useful split-seconds chronograph function, making it considerably more sophisticated than a standard chronograph.

The Doppelchronograph allows the wearer to time two events simultaneously or measure intermediate times, operated through the additional pusher integrated into the case. It is a particularly appealing complication in a watch that otherwise remains very much a functional pilot’s tool.

The 42mm case gives the watch plenty of presence on the wrist, while the long but carefully shaped lugs make it surprisingly comfortable to wear, even on a smaller wrist.

The original IWC bracelet is another highlight. It features an excellent construction with a clever quick-release pin system on every link, making bracelet adjustment and removal particularly convenient. The bracelet currently fits a wrist of approximately 18cm circumference.

In addition to the original IWC bracelet, I will include an IWC-style replacement strap, giving the new owner the option of wearing the watch on leather as well.

The watch was serviced in 2021 and is currently running very well, with the chronograph and split-seconds functions operating correctly.

Condition:

 

The watch is in very good overall condition for its age and remains a beautiful example of this neo-vintage IWC reference. There are some light scratches and signs of previous wear on the case and bracelet, as can be expected from a watch of this age. These are superficial and visible in the photographs.

 

The watch runs well and all functions operate correctly.
