ORANO Art Deco

A truly exceptional 1940s Swiss Orano, preserved in remarkable New Old Stock condition.

This beautiful Art Deco watch is completely original and appears never to have been worn. The original tag is still attached, together with the original period strap — making this a remarkably authentic time capsule from the 1940s.

Particularly rare is the stainless-steel monobloc case. Most watches of this period were fitted with chrome-plated cases, making the stainless-steel version especially interesting to collectors. The beautifully faceted case sides add to its distinctive Art Deco character. Some light hairline scratches from all the years of storage.

The original dial is exceptionally well preserved, with exactly the untouched appearance one would expect from a genuine NOS example. Due to the age of the watch and the fact that the hands have remained stationary for a long period, the original position of the hour hand at approximately 2 o’clock remains slightly visible on the dial.

The watch has been checked and is running very well. It is powered by the manual-winding Swiss calibre 1220.
