Seiko 6139-6012 “Bruce Lee” – Champagne Dial – 6139B – Period-Correct Seiko Bracelet

A very attractive later execution of the legendary Seiko 6139 “Bruce Lee”, this 6139-6012 stands out with its beautiful champagne-coloured dial and period-correct Seiko bracelet.

The 6139-6012 belongs to the later generation of the 6139 series and is fitted with Seiko’s 6139B automatic chronograph movement. While the earlier 6139-6010 is perhaps the reference most strongly associated with the Bruce Lee nickname, the 6139-6012 is equally interesting from a collector’s perspective, particularly in less commonly encountered dial variations.

The champagne dial gives this example a completely different character from the more familiar blue, gold and black versions. Combined with the stainless-steel case and Seiko bracelet, it makes for a particularly striking vintage chronograph.

The watch remains fully original in its main components and has not been unnecessarily restored or modified.

The Seiko 6139 is historically significant as one of the pioneering automatic chronograph movements of the late 1960s. Its column-wheel and vertical-clutch construction, combined with its distinctive vintage design, have made the 6139 series a firm favourite among collectors.

The “Bruce Lee” nickname comes from the fact that legendary martial artist and actor Bruce Lee was famously photographed wearing a Seiko 6139-6010. The nickname has subsequently become widely associated with the broader 6139 family.

A particularly nice opportunity to own a later 6139-6012 with an attractive champagne dial and a superbly matching period Seiko bracelet.
